MoMa

It's good to be back in blogland after a long hiatus. I'm going to take the easy way out and go with pictures instead of words..MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) in NY has some striking, unconventional art on display.

Personally, I like the Impressionists: Monet and gang, but it was hard to resist these..

Radha's blog has some more pics from this fascinating wall.

Art is truly amazing! I'm even more fascinated by the human brain and how it processes art. We see so many things at once and somehow our brain is able to process all the individual images into one coherent picture. It really is all amazing :-)

Yoda,
Good to hear from you..Yes, art is is amazing:)

Moi,
That wall was my fav. display in MoMa:) Both Radha and I were enamored by it. Simple and yet so witty..

Suramya,
Yeah, that struck me as an interesting take on art!

Hey Megster....Welcome back!! love all the pictures and especially the explanation....!

Well, to me the second pic you posted looks like someone spilled a couple of cans of paint on a canvas and then tried to clean it up. ;)

At least in the first one you can see the skill it took to draw it. Ah well, I guess I don't understand art...

Any painting that particularly struck you as just amazing?

One of my all-time favorite paintings is the Scream, by Evard Munch :-)

Wanda,
Thanks you, its good to be back!! I look forward to seeing your work there:)

Suramya,
The pic is actually a part of a much larger painting of the entire US. There was something very striking about it.

Yoda,
I was most impressed by the wall in the last pic. It's witty and clever and has depth..and really uses art/pictures to communicate ideas succintly.

For some reason I have always resisted visiting museums of Modern Art, because, like you, I prefer to view paintings by the Old Masters, but your post (and Radha's) has made me change my mind...the next time I have the opportunity to visit a museum of Modern Art I am going for it!
